Compassionate Release Granted

United States v. Amarrah

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, our client had not yet served half of his federal prison sentence, but faced a life threatening risk if he contracted COVID-19. Although he had not yet received a response from the Bureau of Prisons regarding his compassionate release request, we had to seek court intervention for his safety. He suffered from several underlying health conditions that would have put him in grave danger if he had contracted COVID-19; his release was imperative. In a 25-page Opinion, Judge Levy shut down the opposing argument that our client was "cutting in line" and granted our client's release.
